Australian artist Nancy Hall has drawn inspiration from the fascinating images in Seeds: Time Capsules of Life for her latest art workshop. With the book by Rob Kesseler and Wolfgang Stuppy as her source material, Nancy, alongside other artists, recreated the microscopic seed images as 3D sculptures using knitting, felt and clay.

The artists were initially inspired by the hand-crafted nature of the images themselves, which are produced from the scanning electron microscope in black and white, then carefully and painstakingly hand-coloured by artist Rob Kesseler.

The artwork was displayed at “The Crafted Object – Inspired by Nature” exhibition, held in Australia’s Olive Pink Botanical Garden’s gallery in Alice Springs.

The Papadakis team took a recent trip to Marston Book Services, our UK warehouse based in Abingdon, to look at all our lovely books and see just what happens to them when they are ordered, picked, packed and distributed all over the world. We had an exciting tour of the warehouse interior, where rows upon rows of towering shelves dwarf the people that walk by, and then went on our own mini mission to find our Papadakis titles amongst the vast sea of books.
